Bei der offenen Welle ist die Welle nur auf einer Seite gedeckt.

Offenen Welle wird als B-Welle (Feinwelle) in Form von Rollenwellpappe zum einpacken und zum Ausstopfen verwendet.
Ist als C-Welle (Micro-Welle) ist offene Welle gut zum Kaschieren geeignet. Dabei wird auf die offene Seite ein bedruckter Kartonbogen kaschiert (= geklebt).
